Demise of farming sector will destroy rural economy



Farmers from across the counties of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are expected to take part in the IFA organised ‘Save Irish Farming Rally’ which is scheduled to take place in Dublin on Sunday next.

 

The event in Merrion Square will see different generations come to Dublin to interact with families outside the farming community.

 

It’s claimed that recent Government policy proposals, including those on CAP and the climate, will reduce production and increase costs on many local farms.

 

Kathleen Henry is the Sligo IFA chairperson she says Sunday’s event is aimed at highlighting that the demise of the agricultural sector will negatively impact on the local economy:
