How safe are public figures in the north west

The murder of the Conservative MP Sir David Amess has shocked many people over the last week.

Back in June 2016, Jo Cox, the British Labour Party Member of Parliament (MP), died after being shot and stabbed multiple times in West Yorkshire.

So the safety of politicians is being discussed in great detail as a result of these attacks.

Attacks on Politicians are not unique to the UK with many politicians and public figures fearing for their safety.

Two years ago the Sinn Fein Spokesperson on Justice and Equality and Sligo TD Martin Kenny had his car burned outside his home in County Leitrim.

He joined John Lynch on North West Today to discuss his experience and share his views on the safety of politicians.

Paul Taylor played for the Sligo senior football team and in more recent times managed his native County.  Paul is also a Sligo County Councillor and is currently the Cathaoirleach of the local authority in Sligo.

He also discussed his experience of what sports people have to endure
