Latest 14 day Covid-19 rate



The 14 day incidence rate of Covid-19 per 100,000 population has increased in three local electoral areas across the region.

The rate in the South Donegal local electoral area increased from 393 to 630 while Manorhamilton has decreased from 518 to 444.

The rate has also gone up in Sligo/Strandhill going from 322 to 341.

The Sligo/Drumcliffe local electoral area has also increased going from 317 to 492.

Ballymote/Tubbercurry is the only local electoral area in Co. Sligo to see a decrease, going from 262 infections per 100,000 population to 221.

The rate for Co. Donegal as a whole is 588, an increase from 542, it 390 in Leitrim, down from 403 and it’s 356 in Sligo, up from 314; the national rate stands at 415.

408 patients are in public hospitals with the virus, a 44 per cent increase on two weeks ago, with an average of 50 admissions a day.

Latest figures show 17 patients are recieving treatment for the virus in Letterkenny University Hospital and a further 13 in Sligo University Hospital.

While the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation Trolley Watch figures show 35 people are waiting for a bed in letterkenny and 10 in Sligo.

The HSE’s chief operations officer, Anne O’Connor says rising Covid hospitalisations are placing a ‘significant burden’ on the health service along with increased demand for non-Covid care.
