Sligo Airport management seek meeting over funding

Management at Sligo Airport are requesting a meeting with Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Hildegarde Naughton, to seek clarity over ongoing financial issues.

A meeting was held in December 2020 and Joe Corcoran, Airport Manager said in a letter to the Minister that ‘it’s really disappointing that the matter has not been dealt with.’

Required infrastructure projects were carried out in october 2020 at a cost of €280,000 to the airport which has yet to be reimbursed for.

Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail TD, Marc MacSharry, says operational costs of around €100,000 a year is also required.

He says precedent has been set with other airports around the country and Sligo only needs a fraction of their costs.
