Sligo University Hospital Emergency Department ‘extremely busy’ today

Management at Sligo University Hospital are requesting people to contact their GP or Caredoc services if their health problem is not urgent due to how busy the Emergency Department is today.

The large volume of people presenting themselves is also putting pressure on bed availability in the hospital with long waiting times being experienced.

If you do need to attend, people are asked to follow public health rules such as social distancing, washing hands and wearing a face mask.

People are also advised to wait alone in the department with a companion only permitted under exceptional circumstances.

There are 27 patients waiting on bed in the hosital today according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s trolley wath figures.

17 of which are in the emergency department and 10 in other wards of the hospital.
