A new wastewater treatment plant has been given the greenlight for Mullaghmore in Co. Sligo.
Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor, Donal Gilroy says the current plant is not suitable for the growing population of the area and the increased tourist activity in recent years which he says has led to no swimming notices having to be erected at times.
He says plans for the treatment facility also aim to service the Cliffoney area.
Councillor Gilroy says even today he was contacted by a constituent due to the poor quality of water.
