Certain services no longer being offered for special needs children in Sligo preschool

The decision to no longer offer certain services to children with special needs at a Sligo preschool is not ‘just or right’ according to a local Councillor.

Fianna Fail Councillor, Martin Baker says families availing of the Holy Family Preschool in Ballytivnan were only informed over the summer by the HSE that Speech and Language and Occupational therapy will no longer be offered.

22 families have been attending the school with children aged between almost 3 years old and school going age.

People have been informed that the services will be offered in other locations.

Councillor Baker says the early years are vital for children’s development.
