Manorhamilton councillor: ‘We will soon be a town without a bank’

A Leitrim councillor says AIB’s decision to no longer offer over the counter transactions from later this year in Manorhamilton will be devasting for the local community.

A spokesperson for the bank says with more people banking online and less footfall, there has been a 39% reduction in transactions in branches since 2019.

From the 6th of December 2021, transactions including cash, cheques, coin, foreign exchange and bank drafts will no longer be available in the Manorhamilton branch.

Fine Gael Manorhamilton based Councillor Frank Dolan says there will be extremely limited banking services available in the town from December.
