Large turnout at Mica protest in Donegal

Up to 2,000 people turned up outside the offices of Donegal County Coumncil in Lifford at the weekend for a protest demanding a 100% redress scheme for the owners of houses built by Mica-affected blocks.

Protesters walked from the county council headquarters to the outskirts of Lifford, where they were addressed by Paddy Diver and Michael DOherty from the Mica Action Group.

A number of homeowners also spoke.

While much of the publicity to date has centered on houses affected in counties Donegal and Mayo, it’s now emerging that there is also an increasing number of houses in County Sligo believed to be similarly affected by pyrite.

A Sligo Action Group meeting took place last week in Castleconnor  attended by a number of local politicians.
