Calls for improvements to L1502 in Co. Sligo

A south Sligo Councillor is calling for improvements to the L1502 road from Ballymote to Drumfin, which is expected to now become much busier following completion of the new N4 dual carriageway between Collooney and Castlebaldwin.

Fine Gael Councillor Dara Mulvey says the new motorway will result in a massive shift of traffic from the R293 Clarke’s Bridge/Ballymote road, especially for daily commuters and those travelling from the Ballymote, Keash and Culfadda areas as well as the greater south Sligo area.

Cllr Mulvey says commercial and industrial traffic will also go onto the new motorway from these areas.

Therefore, he says the Drumfin/Ballymote road needs to be upgraded.
