Rescue operations carried out in Sligo & Donegal

The Sligo Bay Lifeboat responded to a request from the Coast Guard yesterday evening to provide assistance to a swimmer who got into difficulty at Deadmans Point, close to Rosses Point.

Another swimmer that attempted to provide assistance was also taken aboard the lifeboat and bought back to the lifeboat station.

Neither swimmer involved in the incident required medical attention.

In a spate incident, the Killybegs Coast Guard responded to reports of an angler who was in danger after getting cut off by the tide.

Members of the Killybegs Coast Guard members assessed the situation and requested the Rescue 118 helicopter to attend the scene.

The Rescue 118 airlifted the angler to safety.
