North West students facing transport chaos due to reduced capacity



The annual challenges that families of school going children face at this time of year have been added to by a school transport system which a local TD has described as ‘broken’

 

With a reduced capacity on school buses this year due to the Covid-19 restrictions those that are in receipt of concessionary tickets are being refused seats on buses for several routes across the north west.

 

The criteria for school transports is designed with students attending the closest school to their homes if they opt for an alternative school they were in the past issued concessionary bus tickets to transport them to and from that school but now many students find themselves having to seek alternative modes of transport as the new school year is about to commence.
