Three local electoral areas above national Covid-19 14 day rate

Three local electoral areas in the region are above the national 14 day incidence rate of Covid-19 per 100,000 population of 422.5.

As of Monday last, the rate in the South Donegal Local Electoral Area was 486.9, a noticeable decrease on the rate last week of 694.5.

Manorhamilton in Co. Leitrim has also increased and is slightly above the national figure with the rate in the areas now 425.1.

It’s a mixed bag in Co. Sligo however.

The 14 day incidence rate of Covid-19 per 100,000 population is now 356.4 in Sligo/Drumcliffe, down from 362.1 while Sligo/Strandhill has remained the same on 407.

Ballymote/Tubbercurry now has the highest rate of Covid-19 in the OceanFM region.

The Local Electoral Area has a rate of 583.6.

A total of 480 new cases of the virus were recorded in this time with the majority, 156, documented in Ballymote/Tubbercurry.

Carndonagh in Co. Donegal has the highest rate nationally at 1,880.

Donegal GP Ciaran Ó Fearraigh says Donegal’s rate is linked to the spread of Covid in the North.
