Gardai in the region are asking motorists to ensure they are complying with the law when towing caravans.
It comes amid a massive upsurge in the number of caravans now on the road with the increase in the number of people holidaying at home.
This week, Sligo Leitrim Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle towing a caravan and discovered the combined weight surpassed the permitted weight for a normal licence.
In addition, the driver did not have the licence required to tow a caravan.
Gardai say that in this situation, the driver would not be covered by insurance.
There was also so extension mirrors, which is another requirement when towing a caravan.
