Confusion for hospitality sector; Fáilte Ireland to update guidelines

A local restauratuer says there are mixed messages ‘yet again’ surrounding guidelines for the hospitality sector.

Failte Ireland are expected to publish updated guidelines today after holding talks with government officials yesterday following the Attorney General, Paul Gallagher, confirming that outdoor gatherings of upto 200 guests can take place in certain circumstances.

The controversy surrounds an event held by former Children’s Minister, Katherine Zappone hosting an outdoor event in Dublin with 50 guests including Tanaiste Leo Varadkar.

Anthony Gray is a former President of the Restaurants Association of Ireland and says there is one set of rules for some and another set for others.

Over a week on from indoor dining opening for those vaccinated or who have recovered from Covid-19, Anthony Gray says the response from the public has been fantastic.

He says it’s time to get things back to normal.
