Donegal middle distance runner Mark English will run in the first round heats of the men’s 800 metres at the Tokyo Olympics in the early hours of Saturday morning.
English goes in heat 5 of 6 at 2.22am Irish time.
The indications are he will need to run close to his PB to be sure of reaching the semi finals.
The first three runners from each heat plus the six fastest losers will qualify for the semi-finals.
English was a semi-finalist in Rio five years ago.
