16 patients with Covid-19 in north west hospitals



According to the latest figures from the HSE, there are 16 patients with Covid-19 in Letterkenny and Sligo University Hopsitals.

The majority, 13 are waiting in Letterkenny and 3 in Sligo.

While the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s Trolley Watch Figures show 31 people are waiting for a bed in Sligo University Hospital today and a further 13 in Letterkenny.

There were 1,408 new cases confirmed in the Republic yesterday, with 9 deaths confirmed over the last week with a further 1,471 people testing positive for the coronavirus in the North in the last 24 hours.

The Taoiseach has said there will be a ‘steady as she goes’ approach to easing any Covid restrictions over the coming weeks.

Micheál Martin poured some cold water on comments from the Chief Medical Officer which suggested restrictions could be lifted slightly faster.

The Taoiseach believes a more cautious approach is best.
