Report looks at construction, housing situation in Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim



Almost 800 buildings were under construction in the north west last month.

556 of them were in Donegal, 142 in Sligo and 72 in Leitrim.

That’s according to the latest figures from the GeoDirectory GeoView Residential Buildings Report for the second quarter of this year.

In Donegal, 556 buildings were under construction in June this year.

570 new residential addresses were added to the GeoDirectory database in the twelve months to June 2021.

The average residential property price in Donegal in the twelve months to May 2021 was €149,747 and 9.3% of all transactions involved new dwellings.

The residential vacancy rate in Donegal in June 2021 was 10.1%., higher than the national average of 4.5%.

In Sligo, 142 buildings were under construction in June.

The average residential property price in Sligo the twelve months to May 2021 was €167,193, and 8.9% of all transactions involved new dwellings

The residential vacancy rate in Sligo in June 2021 was 9.5%.

In Leitrim, 72 buildings were under construction in June, with
147 new residential addresses were added to the database durng the previous 12 months.

The average residential property price in Leitrim the twelve months to May 2021 was €136,436.

10.1% of all transactions involved new dwellings

The residential vacancy rate in Leitrim in June 2021 was 14.8%.
