Lack of building material hampering construction industry



The shortage of building materials and the rising costs of construction are now major contributing factors to the housing crisis in the northwest.

 

That’s the warning from a Leitrim Councillor who says that the construction of new homes and renovations to existing properties are being delayed to the lack of building materials and cost of building products which rocketed in recent times.

 

Fianna Fáil  Councillor Justin Warnock has issued the warning just hours after a study revealed the number of new builds in the northwest has fallen sharply over the past year with other factors contributing to the fall along with the well documented Covid-19 construction restrictions.
