Cara pharmacy to ‘outsource internal support function’ and co-brand

The Cara Pharmacy group’s support centre in Bundoran is being downsized and the majority of people working there will be offered other roles within the company.

That’s according to Patrick McCormack of Renrew Limited, which has taken over the Cara Group.

The Cara pharmacy group successfully exited an examinership process on Feb 1st of this year.

This was following the acquisition of the business by Renrew Limited, with Patrick McCormack, pharmacist with 30 years’ experience in the retail pharmacy business as its CEO.

Having carefully examined the business over the past 4 months, Mr McCormack has now finalised a plan to ensure the growth of the business into the future.

Part of this plan will involve outsourcing much of the internal support function to a third party and a co-branding of the business with this party.

Detail of this cobranding will be revealed later this month.

The outsourcing of the support function will include finance, human resources, purchasing marketing and operations.

A majority of the team employed at the support centre in Bundoran will have the opportunity for redeployment in other roles in the company.

Patrick McCormack said when they closed their store in Quayside in Sligo town earlier this year, he was very pleased that they managed to redeploy all of the team at that time.

He said they were adopting a similar approach with the downsizing of their support centre in Bundoran by offering a majority of their team other roles within the company.

He said his priorities from the start had been to maintain employment while ensuring the business structure allows us to grow going forward.
