Council meeting adjourned as mark of respect to late Cllr Patsy Barry

A full meeting of Sligo County Council adjourned today after tributes were paid to the late Councillor Patsy Barry, whose funeral took place at the weekend.

From Grange, he had succeeded the late councillor and senator, Willie Farrell.

Cllr. Donal Gilroy, who succeeded Cllr Barry, spoke of the work he had done over the years in many areas in north Sligo.

Cllr Gilroy said if he delivered only half what Cllr Barry delivered, he would be happy.

All councillors paid tribute during the meeting, which was then adjourned as a mark of respect.

Council Cathaoirleach, Fine Gael Councillor Dara Mulvey, recalled the late Cllr Barry’s time on the council, describing him as ‘a great ambassador for his area.’
