Latest Covid-19 figures announced by Department of Health



The Department of Health has confirmed that 456 new cases of Covid-19 in their latest figures.

 

There were 49 new cases detected in Donegal while both Sligo and Leitrim registered fewer than 5 cases each.

 

There were no additional deaths in the Republic of Ireland yesterday.

 

Over 1.4 million people have received their first dose and almost 519,000 people have received their second jab.

 

The number of people with Covid-19 in hospitals has fallen below 100 for the first time in more than seven months.

 

99 were on wards last night, while 36 were in ICU.

 

Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health said: “Our key objective remains to follow the public health advice in our daily activities as we continue to chart our way through this pandemic.

 

 

“I would encourage people who have been vaccinated, to safely resume your lives, mindful of the guidelines. For those awaiting vaccination, the many choices we make to stick with the public health advice will keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.”
