A local TD has lodged legal action against the Standards in Public Office Commission.
According to the Independent, Courts Service Records show the case was issued against the State’s political standards and ethics watchdog in the High Court on Friday by Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail TD, Marc MacSharry.
Deputy MacSharry stood by controversial comments he made in July last year saying that while some civil servants had ‘gone above and beyond the call of duty’ during the pandemic, others were ‘doing the maximum of the minimum.’
Freedom of Information showed SIPO believed it could have been the target of the criticism due to a complaint made by the Sligo/Leitrim TD over delays in refunding election expenses.
