Northern Ireland needs a stonger voice in Europe

A north west MEP says there’s a need for Northern Ireland to have a stronger voice in Europe.

Chris Macmanus was speaking after MEPs overwhelmingly backed ratifying the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement, and also overwhelmingly backing a resolution setting out current Brexit concerns.

Chris MacManus says what formal role Northern Ireland now will have in Europe must be decided, with input from the Irish government.

But he says there’s a need for greater dialogue between the EU institutions, the elected representatives and society in Northern Ireland.
