The East Mayo Greenway Group is welcoming the announcement of an e-tender for the Sligo to Enniskillen Greenway.
The e-tender is for a design team to undertake preliminary design and route selection, as well as environmental reports.
The aim is to progress the project to planning stages. The tender for the work is Stage One in the process.
The proposed greenway would connect Enniskillen to Sligo along the route of the closed Sligo North Leitrim Railway.
The greenway would eventually connect with Charlestown via the Sligo Greenway from Collooney.
David Malee, chairperson of the East Mayo Greenway Group, says it’s important the tourism potential of greenways is developed.
