Contrasting results from north west Covid testing centres

A top public health official in the north west is urging people not to become complacent if Covid case numbers come down in their areas.

It’s after vastly different Covid figures were found in two different areas of the region, one in Letterkenny, the other in Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim.

Despite a number of gatherings in the Drumshanbo area, fewer than 1% of 300 people tested positive for Covid last weekend.

However, the figure was 9% in Letterkenny, which reflects the continuing high incidence of the virus in the county, particularly in northern parts.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Dr Anthony Breslin outlined the background to the setting up of the pop-up centre in Drumshanbo and the walk-in centre in Letterkenny.

Dr Breslin reminded people that in the effort to curb the spread of the virus, the usual rules still apply.
