People reminded to never give out personal information if suspicious of scam



People are being reminded not to give out any personal information if you are suspicious of any received call, text or email from any business or institution.

The latest scam claims to be from the Department of Social Protection who say a persons PPS number has been compromised.

Gardaí advise people to hang up or ignore any message and to call any organisation that contacts you on verified numbers if you have any doubts.

If you believe you were the vistim of a scam or have reason to believe you have been contacted by one, contact your bank, inform your local Garda Station and you can call the Department of Social Protection on 1890 800 024
