Community and Voluntary sector in ‘survival mode’.

A Sligo Councillor says the community and voluntary sector is in ‘survival mode’.

Cathoirleach of Sligo/Drumcliffe, Thomas Walsh, says the many people who have become leaders in their communities, need urgent government support as many are struggling to stay afloat during the pandemic.

There are over 400 clubs and organisations registered in Co. Sligo alone that are comprised of thousands of volunteers.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Counillor Walsh says the groups are a vital part of towns and villages across the county.
