Seanad to debate Cross-Border Healthcare Directive



The Seanad Special Select Committee on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union will meet this afternoon to discuss the Cross-Border Healthcare Directive.

 

The meeting of Senators will hold two sessions to examine the impact of Brexit on the Directive.

 

The first session will hear from officials from the Department of Health and the Health Service Executive.

 

This will be followed with representatives of the Kingsbridge Private Hospitals in Sligo and Belfast, as well as  PDFORRA Representatives.

 

Speaking to ocean FM NEWS, Committee Chair, Senator Lisa Chambers says the Cross-Border Healthcare Directive examines the real-life impact of Brexit on the health of people particularly those that have no longer access to treatment in Northern Ireland for treatment such hip replacements and cataract procedures.
