Justice Minister failed to act quickly on Children Act



A Sligo Leitrim TD has accused the Justice Minister of not acting quickly enough in amending a law which prohibits the identification of child victims of crime.

 

Last October, a ruling saw the Children Act interpreted to mean a young person who was the victim of a crime couldn’t be identified in court.

 

Minister Helen McEntee says she’ll bring proposals on how to resolve the problem to Cabinet next week.
