MacSharry offers apology after saying Ireland should buy vaccines from Ku Klux Klan.



A Sligo/Leitrim TD is apologising for saying Ireland should buy Covid-19 vaccines from the Ku Klux Klan.

 

Fianna Fáil Deputy Marc MacSharry made the comments at a parliamentary party meeting last night.

 

The North West based deputy says he was calling for the country to get vaccines from any source necessary, when he made the remarks.

 

 

The company’s warning of a shortage of supply – meaning Ireland will only get half of the 600,000 doses due by the end of March.

 

AstraZeneca blames production issues at European plants, but the EU says the jabs must be delivered as scheduled.

 

Former director-general of the HSE, Tony O’Brien, says a solution needs to be found.
