For the second year, no St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Sligo town

One of the largest St Patrick’s Day parades in the north west will not be taking place for the second time this year because of the Covid pandemic.

Organisers of the parade in Sligo are usually meeting around now to plan for this year’s event.

Instead, they have decided to announce they are cancelling the 2021 parade.

Last year, the decision wasn’t taken until shortly before the parade.

Parade Committee Chairman Finbarr Filan says that the decision to cancel this year was not a difficult one, unlike last year when preparations were far advanced.
