Man removed to Beaumont following Sligo Collision



Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred on John Street, Sligo at approximately 9:45pm last night.

The pedestrian, a man in his 50’s, was taken to Sligo University Hospital to be treated for his injuries, he has since been taken to Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

Forensic Collision Investigators are currently technically examining the scene and the road is closed to allow this examination to take place. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area from 9:30pm – 10pm to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Traffic diversions are in place in John Street in Sligo this morning following the incident.

The road will be closed until further notice.

The closure is likely to cause considerable delays to traffic around Sligo Town.

 

A diversion is in place, and vehicles can turn left at Charles Street.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if at all possible.
