FARMING: Focus on Brexit discussions and Teagasc Hedgerow Week



IFA President Tim Cullinan will address the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee today and the Joint Oireachtas Agriculture Committee on Tuesday, on the Brexit talks.

The IFA President has urged Michel Barnier and his team to pursue an outcome that retains the closest possible trading relationship with the UK.

Tim Cullinan said he will be using today’s forum in the European Parliament to remind other member States about the level of exposure of the Irish agri-food sector to Brexit.

The focus of Teagasc Hedgerow Week this year is on establishing new native hedges.

The current generation of Irish farmers have planted approximately 10,000 Kilometres of new hedges, making it the most significant planting in more than 200 years.

Teagasc Hedgerow Week 2020, runs from today, Monday 7 December until Saturday 12 December.
