Man, woman in court after Sligo stabbing incident



A man and a woman in their 20s appeared have appeared before a sitting of the District Court in Carrick on Shannon on charges arising from a disturbance in Sligo town on Saturday afternoon.

It occurred in Caltragh Crescent and resulted in another man, also in his 20s, being brought to Sligo University Hospital with stab wounds that were serious but not life-threatening.

A man and a woman were arrested and charged with assault causing harm.

During follow-up enquiries a man was found in possession of an offensive weapon.

Investigations are ongoing and gardai are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at 071 91 57000.

On Saturday night, gardai set up a number of crime prevention checkpoints around Sligo town, accompanied by the Armed Support Unit.
