Covid-19 incidence rate drops across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal



The Covid-19 incidence rate compared to last week has decreased across the OceanFM region.

The overall rate in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal has gone down however one local electoral area has seen a slight increase.

Between November 12th and November 25th, 519 new cases were recorded in the region; 39 in County Sligo, 347 in Donegal and 13 in Leitrim.

This compares to 501 cases recorded between November 5th and November 18th; 49 in Sligo, 421 in Donegal and 31 in Leitrim.

The national rate of infection per 100,000 people is now 103.9, which is down from 116.5 last week.

The rate of infection, accurate as of the 23rd of November, for the local electoral area of Sligo/Drumcliff has decreased from 62.2 last week to 33.9 this week and the Sligo/Strandhill area has also gone down from 132.5 to 56.8.

However, in Ballymote/Tubbercurry, the rate has increased from 89.8 to 112.2; it’s the only local electoral area in the OceanFM region to see an increase.

The rate for Co. Sligo as a whole is 59.5, down from 74.8.

In South Donegal, the rate has decreased from 143.4 to 132.1; the rate for the county is 218.

This makes it the highest nationally once again but is still a decrease on last weeks figure of of 264.5.

And Manorhamilton has also decreased with a current rate of infection of 101.7, down from 120.1 last week; the rate for Leitrim county is the 2nd lowest in the country at 40.6, down from 96.7.

Yesterday, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre confirmed 335 new cases and 3 additional deaths nationally; the same time last week there were 429 new cases and 4 additional deaths
