Roadworks progressing in Sligo



Traffic approaching Sligo from the North and from Rosses Point will be experiencing faster access to the town as a result of the road improvements that have advanced this week.

 

Emer Concannon, Senior Engineer with Sligo County Council has been telling Ocean FM news that considerable progress is being made on the N4/ N 15 Improvements scheme at a number of key locations.

With these works concentrating in the main so far North of the Duck Street Junction. Emer Concannon says significant improvement works have now taken place in addition to the provision of major water infrastructure. As a result traffic approaching Sligo from the North and from the Rosses Point can now proceed straight into Sligo town:

 

 

So what will the impact of the traffic works be on the town of Sligo in the lead up to Christmas?  Remember Level 5 restrictions are expected in end in early December and as result retailers in the town will want as little disruption as possible as they attempt to salvage something from what has been a challenging year for all businesses in the town.

Emer Concannon says such a large scale project that also requires large public access poses a number of challenges:

 

 

When it comes to a final completion date late spring or early summer is being mentioned as the most likely time.
