Local Publican concerned by proposed extension to Covid restrictions

Powers allowing Gardaí close pubs or restaurants could be extended until next June.

Justice Minister Helen McEntee is seeking approval for the move at a cabinet meeting today.

There are fears within the pub and hospitality industry that the move sends out a very discouraging message about the outlook for the hospitality and pub business.

Sligo pub owner Fergal Quinn says it adds to the worry for those in his business.
