Number of Covid cases drop in Donegal but CMO says ‘we haven’t turned the corner’



The Chief Medical Officer says the recent dip in Covid-19 figures can’t be called a trend yet.

Last night, 720 new cases were confirmed, with 5 additional deaths.

Seven new cases were reported for Donegal, six for Sligo, fewer than 5 for Leitrim and 18 in Cavan.

The 14-day incidence rate as of midnight 26th October was 508 for Donegal, 288 for Sligo, 66 for Leitrim and 733 for Cavan.

The national incidence rate has fallen slightly from yesterday to 307.

The case total nationally has stayed below 1,000 for four out of the last five days.

However, Dr Tony Holohan insisted the country hasn’t turned a corner yet in suppressing the spread of the disease:
