Dolan says all-island approach necessary in dealing with Covid

A Belleek, Co Fermanagh-based member of the Northern Ireland Assembly says an all-island approach is essential in dealing with Covid-19.

Sinn Fein’s Gemma Dolan, who represents Fermanagh and South Tyrone, also told Ocean FM News she did not think more restrictions on the border was the answer.

He comments come in advance of an emergency meeting in Stormont to discuss greater restrictions to stop the spread of Covid-19 in Northern Ireland.

A lockdown of up to six weeks is being recommended by health officials after cases numbers continue to rise.

Gemma Dolan says people often have to cross the border several times a day, with the result that clamping down on cross-border travel is not practical.

However, she says the situation is serious.
