More empty business premises in the north west



The number of empty business premises throughout the north west is on the rise.

And Sligo continues to have the highest commercial vacancy rate in the country.

According to the GeoView Commercial Property for the second quarter of this year, the vacancy rate increased by 0.4 percentage points to 19.3% in June 2020 compared with June 2019.

Sligo’s vacancy rate is 5.8% higher than the national average. Sligo town was the town with the highest vacancy rate while Enniscrone had the lowest.

The commercial vacancy rate in Donegal increased by 0.8 percent to 16.6%. Ballybofey had the highest vacancy rate while Buncrana had the lowest.

In Leitrim, the vacancy rate rose by 0.4% to 17.1%.

The top five counties with the highest vacancy rates were all in Connacht.
