Ballymote Group to mark indexation of Corran Herald during Heritage Week in August

A South Sligo heritage festival that has been running for 30 years will not go ahead as planned this weekend because of the Covid-19 restrictions.

Ballymote Heritage Group’s weekend of lectures, discussions and outings has been ongoing since 1990 and this this is the first time it will not go ahead.

However, plans for the 2021 Heritage Weekend are already at an advanced stage, as Heritage Group Chairman Neal Farry has been telling Ocean FM News:

Mr Farry says they have a very special event to mark National Heritage Week, which takes place from August 15th to 23rd.

It’s the launch of the 53rd edition of The Corran Herald.

And he says it will be a special launch as it will mark a significant milestone in the history of the publication.

That’s the digital indexation of all 52 editions, uploaded onto to the Heritage website with a search option.

Mr Farry says it will mean articles and items in all the Corran Heralds can be found almost instantly.
