Sligo Rovers revised league fixtures published

The fixtures for the revised SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season have been announced.

Sligo Rovers will resume their league campaign with a trip to the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium to play Derry City on Friday, July 31st. The match will have an earlier kick-off time of 5:45pm.

This will be a new feature of the revised season with two matches scheduled for Friday, two on Saturday and the fifth Premier Division match each week to be played on either Sunday or Monday.

The fixture list is effectively picking up where it left off before the season was halted. Rovers home league game against Waterford, which was postponed at the end of February as the Covid pandemic kicked in, has been re-fixed for Tuesday, August 4th, at the Showgrounds.

A new broadcast agreement is set to see every game streamed live online on a new pay-per-view service.

The remaining fixtures for the truncated 2020 season mean there will be two rounds of matches in total, including games played to date, and promotion/relegation as scheduled at the start of the 2020 season.

Rovers will restart bottom of the Premier Division, having lost all four of their league games before Covid hit.
