Water Infrastructure upgrade to commence in Ballintra

Works are due to start today in Ballintra.  The works will be started with the aim of improving the water quality in the area.

The works were originally due to have started back in March, however, they were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

300 metres of pipes are to be replaced along the town’s main street as part of Irish Water’s National Leakage Reduction Programme which aims to reduce leaks across the region by fixing or replacing systems.

A traffic management system will be in place and it’s expected the works will be completed by August.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Fianna Fail Councillor, Micheal Naughton, says the works are long overdue but is welcoming the fact they are finally taking place.
