Commuters rescued from floods in Leitrim



Several roads still remain impassable this lunch time in the North Leitrim area.  The road at Socks line is totally impassable and there are reports of houses being flooded in the area.

 

There are also reports of a numbers of commuters of having to be rescued from floods at different locations including Mullies on the main Manorhamilton to Kinlough road and on the Dromahair to Manorhamilton road.

 

The road is also blocked at Parkes Castle on the Dromahair to Sligo Road.

 

Landslides have taken place in Greaghnaglough and the Dawn of hope which is roughly 5 miles from the town of Drumkeerin.

 

Calls are already being made by the Caoirthleach of Leitrim Council to increase the roads funding allocation for 2020.

Drumkeerin based Fianna Fáil Cllr Mary Bohan the constant rain over the weekend has caused serious damage to the roads infrastructure in some areas and that urgent funding will have to be immediately allocated to deal with the problem.
