Over 897,000 euro has been paid by North West motorists in speeding fines over the past two years.
Over 10,000 speeding offences have been detected by Gardaí in the Sligo/Leitrim Division and Donegal Division in 2018 and 2019.
There were 802 more offences in the counties of Sligo, Leitirm and Donegal in 2019 compared to the figure recorded in 2018.
According to freedom of information figures, 485,600 euro was paid in fines by speeding motorists in the North West in 2019, an increase of 73,670 compared to a year earlier.
Nationally the number of speeding fines paid by drivers increased by 9 per cent last year.
Aisling Reid, from the Parc Road Safety Group, says these drivers are putting lives at risk.
