Sligo and Mayo Fire Service contain gorse fire

A gorse fire in Co. Sligo this afternoon has been contained.

Following call outs to fires in Doorly Park and Cairns wood, two crews from Sligo Fire Service and one from Mayo attended the incident in the townland of Drumbaun near Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo at 10.30am this morning.

The crews managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses and forestry but the smoke did cause some disruption to visibility along the N17, which the Gardaí monitored.

A Red Warning remains in place until 12 noon on Monday in relation to gorse and bush fires and Sligo County Council are advising people to not set any fires outside in the current warm and dry conditions.
