Recommencement of work on Lough Talt water treatment plant



Works to upgrade the Lough Talt water treatment plant have re-commenced with Irish Water and Sligo County Council expressing their confidence that the project will be complete by the end of 2020.

 

When completed a safe and secure supply of water will be delivered to the 13,000 people.

 

While the upgrade works are continuing the public are reminded that the Boil Water Notice on the scheme remains in place as the current treatment plant does not provide adequate treatment for protection against cryptosporidium.

 

Speaking earlier to Ocean FM News, Sligo Leitrim TD, Deputy Frank Feighan says the news that work has recommenced on the project will come as a huge relief to those being served by the scheme:
