Alarming drop during pandemic in those seeking cancer treatment

Concerns are being raised that people are not seeking medical help due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

One area in particular is the number of people being referred to Rapid Access Cancer Clinics as the number has dropped by over 50% since restrictions began.

Fianna Fail Donegal TD, Charlie McConalogue quotes a recent UK study which shows cancer fatalities could rise by 20% there in the next 12 months; he says if Ireland had similar levels, it could mean the loss of 1,800 lives here.

Deputy McConalogue says people should not ignore genuine health concerns.
