A local TD is calling for the VAT rate in the hospitality sector to be reduced to 0%.
Independent Sligo/Leitrim TD, Marian Harkin, raised the issue in the Dail earlier this week with Minister of State, Brendan Griffin, who agreed with the idea.
She highlighted the fact that 40,000 jobs were under threat in the tourism sector in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal alone during the Coronavirus pandemic.
